Shankar Ehsaan Loy
The iconic Musical Trio who has given evergreen hits
Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy’s journey toward becoming the revered musical Trio of Bollywood - began through their work in jingles and ad compositions. Ehsaan Noorani, the guitarist, and Loy Mendosa, the pianist, first met in 1989 while working for ad film composer Ranjit Barot, and their professional chemistry was undeniable. Their paths converged with Shankar Mahadevan when he was brought in by Ranjit Barot to sing for a Pepsi ad. The synergy between the three was palpable, leading them to collaborate on numerous ad jingles as a Trio.
And it was the music album of ‘Dil Chahta Hai’ (2001), ironically, a movie about friendship and love, that catapulted them to fame.
With a career spanning over two decades, Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy have revolutionized Hindi film music, composing over 50 soundtracks across multiple languages, winning numerous awards, and leaving an indelible mark as Bollywood's most influential and enduring music composers.
