Varun Grover
About
Known for his sharp wit & political musings, Varun Grover is a member of ‘Aisi Taisi Democracy’, a comedy and music show that talks about issues like border relations, elections, politics through funny, yet thought-provoking jokes & commentary.
After working as a software consultant in an MNC in Pune, he moved to Mumbai to chase his dream of becoming a writer. His first big break came in 2005 with much-acclaimed 'The Great Indian Comedy Show' where he was one of the six staff writers.
Soon, he discovered his flair for stand-up comedy writing and attempted stand-up comedy on his own. Currently he is one of the leading stand-up comedians in India along with being a lyrics writer and screenplay writer for Hindi film industry.
He has also been the lead writer for ‘The Late Night Show’ on Colors TV.
As a lyricist, Grover has worked on films such as the ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ series, ‘Ankhon Dekhi’, ‘Dum Laga Ke Haisha’, ‘Masaan’, ‘Udta Punjab’ and ‘Badhaai Do’.

He won the National Film Award for Best Lyrics for the song ‘Moh Moh Ke Dhaagey’ from ‘Dum Laga Ke Haisha’.
However, his claim-to-fame remains as being the the writer of the 2015 movie ‘Masaan’. The film won two awards at ‘Cannes Film Festival’ including the prestigious ‘International Federation of Film Critics Award’ in the Un Certain Regard section .He has also served as a writer on the hit Netflix series “Sacred Games”.
Varun is a versatile personality who can write, sing, and make people laugh. He is an exuberant achiever and comedian who charms everyone with his fascinating personality and witty jokes.
