Major D.P. Singh
About
Major D.P. Singh, a retired officer of the Indian Army & a Kargil War veteran, is known as ‘India's first blade runner’.
In 1999, during Operation Vijay of Kargil War, he was at the LOC fighting for India when he survived a near death experience resulting in the amputation of his right leg. After his amputation, he gradually started running using a prosthetic limb & has run in 26 marathons including three high-altitude runs in Sangla, Ladakh and Kargil.in his running career.

He became the first Indian to run a half marathon with a racing blade – a feat that has earned him the title of ‘India’s blade runner’.
The Limca Book of Records added his name to their “People of the Year 2016″ list.
In 2018, he was conferred with National award for persons with disabilities under Role model category by the Government of India.
In 2019, he wrote another chapter in history when he became the 1st Indian amputee ever to skydive solo.
