Savita Punia
About
The Indian women's team goalkeeper, Savita Punia, is an ebullient live-wire on the ground and also an inspiration for many goalkeepers. Coming from Haryana and defeating all the odds, Savita became India's best and number one goalkeeper not just once but many times.
During the year 2008, Punia featured in more than 100 games at the International level. When she was barely 17, she qualified for the national team in 2007.

For her participation in the Eighth Women’s Asia Cup in Malaysia in 2013, Savita saved two crucial potential goals that helped India win a Bronze medal.
At the Hockey India Annual Awards in 2015, Savita was awarded the ‘Baljit Singh Goalkeeper of the Year’ award for her phenomenal performances for India and international contributions.
In 2018, she earned herself the goalkeeper of the tournament award by making an astonishing save against China in the Asia Cup of 2018.
