About
Beer Puppets, a jazz band with a name as exotic as their sound, was born out of the creative vision of Shreya Bhattacharya and Abhishek Dey, former students of the Swarnabhoomi Academy of Music in Chennai. United by their shared passion for music, they embarked on a journey to explore the boundaries of contemporary jazz, R&B, funk, neo-soul, and fusion.
Initially comprised of international musicians studying at Swarnabhoomi, including talents from Colombia, Mexico, Brazil, Spain, and the US, Beer Puppets cultivated a diverse and eclectic musical palette. Despite the eventual departure of these international members, Shreya and Abhishek remained committed to preserving the band's distinctive sound by seamlessly integrating local musicians into the lineup.
In February 2017, Beer Puppets received widespread acclaim when they were selected to perform at the prestigious ‘Colombo Jazz’ Festival in Sri Lanka. Their electrifying performance captivated audiences, establishing them as a rising force in the contemporary jazz scene.
At the core of Beer Puppets' musical identity is an experimental approach that explores rich harmonies and intricate rhythms. Their repertoire spans a spectrum of genres, from soulful ballads to energetic fusion jams, showcasing their versatility and innovative spirit.
