Sushma Verma

Sushma Verma is a renowned Indian woman cricketer, known for her dual role as a proficient wicketkeeper and right-handed batter. She made history as the first cricketer from her state, Himachal Pradesh to represent India internationally. One of the defining moments in Sushma's career came after the 2017 Women's Cricket World Cup, where her performance caught the attention of Himachal Pradesh's chief minister, who offered her a prestigious role as Deputy Superintendent of Police. 

Her journey in cricket began with the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association, where she excelled under the captaincy, leading the team to the runners-up position at the Under-19 All-India women's tournament in 2011.

Despite facing limited opportunities domestically, Sushma's talent shone through, prompting her move to represent Railways in domestic cricket. Here, she was privileged to play alongside stalwarts like Mithali Raj, Harmanpreet Kaur, and Punam Raut, contributing significantly to her growth and experience in the sport.

Sushma's international career highlights include her crucial role in India's journey to the final of the 2017 Women's Cricket World Cup, where the team narrowly lost to England by nine runs. Her skill behind the stumps and her contributions to the bat have consistently made her a dependable asset for the Indian team.

In addition to her skills in international and domestic cricket, Sushma remains actively involved in professional leagues. She was notably selected by the Gujarat Giants in the inaugural Women's Premier League (WPL) 2023.
