Manish Mehrotra is a stalwart of the culinary world, widely regarded as one of the most dynamic figures in modern Indian cuisine. As the Culinary Director of Indian Accent Restaurants in Delhi, Mumbai, and New York, as well as Comorin in Gurugram, Manish has revolutionized Indian gastronomy with his innovative fusion of authentic Indian flavors and pan-Asian and Western techniques. His culinary skills have been lauded globally, with Vir Sanghvi of Hindustan Times Brunch calling him 'the most exciting modern Indian chef in the world today'.
Manish's illustrious career began in Mumbai as part of Ananda Solomon’s team at the Thai Pavilion of the Taj Group of Hotels. In 2000, he joined Old World Hospitality, quickly transforming Oriental Octopus at Delhi’s Habitat World into a must-visit destination.
Over two decades, Manish has opened several restaurants, honing his skills across the globe. His extensive travels through South Asia, including China, South Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, and Singapore, have enriched his culinary repertoire with diverse Southeast Asian influences.
In 2009, Manish pivoted to modern Indian cuisine, becoming the founding chef of Indian Accent at The Manor Hotel, New Delhi. The restaurant, an Old World Hospitality concept, received critical acclaim for its progressive approach while maintaining traditional Indian integrity. Indian Accent's success in New Delhi led to the opening of branches in New York in 2016 and Mumbai in 2023.
Manish's other notable venture, Comorin in Gurugram, launched in 2018, features a menu of comfort dishes and unique food combinations from across India. Comorin has also received significant acclaim.
Manish’s influence transcends the kitchen; he is a sought-after celebrity chef, regularly appearing on television shows and at prestigious events. His television credits include winning NDTV Good Times’ reality cooking show 'Foodistan' and guest appearances on several seasons of ‘Master Chef India’, ‘McCain Star Chef’, and various other shows.
Manish’s early career also saw him act in films, with notable roles in the 1983 film 'Doosri Dulhan' and the 1984 film 'Apna Bhi Koi Hota.' As a respected television personality, he has shared his culinary expertise on platforms like ‘We The People’, ‘Jab We Met’ (India Today), ‘The Journey of India’ (Discovery), and ‘Diwali Delights’ with Indian Accent (NDTV).
He has also been featured at the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit and TEDx NITW, and involved in initiatives with UNICEF India For Children and Good Earth's Chef's Table.
