Toby’s Dance Mechanics is a dance troupe led by Toby Fernandes, an esteemed Indian Bollywood choreographer, who hails from the quaint village of Goa. Toby's rise to fame came with his participation in the dance reality show 'Jhalak Dikhla Jaa,' where he and his partner Mona Singh emerged victorious in 2006. After winning 'Jhalak Dikhla Jaa' with Mona Singh, he partnered with Bhagyashree and Sonali Kulkarni in various performances. His dance troupe has taken him around the world, from Spain and New Zealand to America, Australia, and beyond.
He has performed in tours with renowned groups and artists, including Boney M and the Graf sisters of Germany, as well as a nine-city tour of the USA with Amitabh Bachchan, covering Canada, Singapore, several Gulf countries, Nepal, and Sri Lanka.
He also shared the stage with Bhagyashree of 'Maine Pyar Kiya' fame. The troupe conducts workshops globally. He is committed to enriching the dance culture in Goa through his exceptional skills and diverse dance styles.
Toby's illustrious career in Bollywood began when a film producer invited him to perform at the Filmfare Awards in 1991, leading to his debut in the film 'Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander.' He then assisted in several films, including 'Oh Darling! Yeh Hain India' and 'Angaar.'
With these accomplishments, Toby secured a prominent position in Bollywood, earning substantial recognition and enjoying his work thoroughly. His final Hindi film was '1942-A Love Story,' after which he transitioned to performing stage shows with pop stars such as Anaida, Mehnaz, Suneeta Rao, Sukhbir, and Shaan. He also danced alongside Bollywood stars Akshay Kumar, Hrithik Roshan, Sushmita Sen, Malaika Arora, and others during their world tours.
Today, Toby continues to share his passion for dance by conducting classes in various offices and his studio. He choreographs for corporate shows, trains corporate staff for company functions, and prepares family members for sangeet ceremonies before weddings. A gifted singer, Toby also doubles as a DJ, host, and singer, displaying his versatile talents whenever needed.
