Nishad Kumar
About
Nishad Kumar is an Indian Paralympian and high jumper who won a silver medal in the men's high jump T47 category with a new Asian record of 2.06m at the Paralympic Games appearance in 2020 Tokyo in his maiden attempt.
Nishad hails from Una, Himachal Pradesh and he lost his right hand in an accident at the age of eight. After the accident, he never focused on his disability rather he started to focus on para-sports.
He took up the sport of para-athletics in 2009 and since then has competed and won several medals representing India.

Nishad won silver at the 2009 National School Games along with gaining immense recognition.
He won a silver at the 2013 National Para Athletics Championships.
In 2017, he clinched a silver medal with a jump of 1.83 at the National Para Athletics Championships of 2017 in Panchkula.
Nishad won a bronze at the 2019 World Para Athletics Championships.
He won a silver at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics representing the Indian contingent.
He clinched a gold medal in the T46 category of the high jump at the 2021 World Para Athletics Grand Prix in Dubai.
