Suhas Yathiraj
About
Suhas Lalinakere Yathiraj currently ranks world No. 2 in men's singles and won a silver medal in the SL-4 category at the Tokyo Paralympics 2021. As an IAS officer from the 2007 batch of the Uttar Pradesh cadre, he has served in significant roles, including District Magistrate of Gautam Buddha Nagar and Prayagraj.
Suhas's athletic skills is highlighted by his gold medal victory in men's singles at the National Para Badminton Championships in Varanasi in March 2018. He made history at the 2016 Asian Para Badminton Championships in Beijing, becoming the first Indian bureaucrat to win a professional international badminton championship. His triumph over Hary Susanto of Indonesia in the finals brought him international recognition.

In recognition of his contributions to sports and public service, Suhas has received numerous accolades. These include Uttar Pradesh’s highest civilian honor, the Yash Bharti, in December 2016, and various awards from the state government for his para sports performances. Supported by the GoSports Foundation through the Para Champions Programme, Suhas continues to excel in his dual roles.
Suhas is also notable for being the only IAS officer in India to win both a Paralympic medal and an Arjuna Award.
