After completing a course in Digital Communication, Anant ventured into the professional world as a Business Analyst at Centrica, a gas company in London. However, a random lunch with a friend led him to audition for a Hindi commentator position at ESPN-Star. His successful audition marked the beginning of his commentary career, starting with the English Premier League.
