Aranya Johar came to the limelight when her debut piece, ‘A Brown Girl’s Guide to Gender’, became a viral sensation, hitting one million views within 24 hours and surpassing 30 million views over time. She uses poetry to spark conversations on gender equality, mental health, and body positivity while seamlessly blending mature thought with youthful curiosity.
At just 20, she has already represented India at prestigious global events, including the Goalkeepers event in New York, hosted by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, where she shared the stage with global icons like Bill Gates, Melinda Gates, and Ed Sheeran.
Aranya has integrated spoken word into Bollywood for the first time through her collaboration with Akshay Kumar for the movie ‘Padman’.
She has performed on platforms like TEDxICTMumbai, SRCC Youth Conference, and We The Women in association with UN Women.
Beyond performing, Aranya is a cultural curator and community builder. She co-founded More Than Mics with her friend Prachee Mashru, creating platforms for poetry, music, and comedy.
