Babita Kumari Phogat, the second eldest of the renowned Phogat sisters, has carved a remarkable niche for herself in the world of wrestling clinching a silver medal in the Commonwealth Games 2010 and went on to secure a bronze at the World Wrestling Championships two years later. Babita's career highlights include a triumphant gold medal victory at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, where she overcame a significant knee injury to defeat her opponents, including a decisive victory against Canada’s Brittanee Laverdure. 

Babita's career began with a gold medal in the women's freestyle 51 kg category at the 2009 Commonwealth Wrestling Championship in Punjab. Her skills earned her a place at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, marking a significant milestone despite an early exit. In 2018, she added another silver medal to her collection at the Commonwealth Games, joining an elite group of Indian athletes with three CWG medals. 

The story of Babita and her sister Geeta was immortalized in the Bollywood blockbuster ‘Dangal’, highlighting their journey and struggles. 

In 2013, Babita added a bronze medal to her collection at the Asian Wrestling Championships in New Delhi, competing in the women's freestyle 55 kg category. The following year, at the 2014 Commonwealth Games, she delivered a stellar performance, defeating opponents from Scotland, England, and Canada to win the gold medal in the women's freestyle 55 kg category.
