Damodar Mall
About
Damodar Mall, a professional in the retail sector, is the CEO of the Grocery Retail Business at Reliance Retail which includes Reliance Fresh and Reliance Smart.
Prior to this, he was the Business Head of Sangam Direct for Unilever in 2003, where he headed the first phone order supermarket.
Damodar was the director of the food strategy at Future Group where he was involved in shaping Big Bazaar and Food Bazaar. He has also led the creation of retail concepts like Foodhall, KB's Fair Price, and Ethnicity, among others.
Damodar writes an invitation blog Shopkeeper-In-Law for Forbes India and has written columns for the Economic Times, DNA, and The Times of India, amongst others.
He was a part of the Coca-Cola Retail Research Committee of Asia from 2006 to 2009 and was profiled by Mint, a business daily in 2007.
He has authored two books, Supermarketwala: Secrets to Winning Consumer India which has a foreword from Mukesh Ambani & a preface by Kishore Biyani, and Be a Supermarketwala which apart from English has also been published in Hindi, Marathi, Telugu, and Gujarati.

- Damodar is the recipient of the ‘Golden Spoon Award’ for the IMAGES Group Most Admired Food and Grocery Retail Professional of the Year in 2011 and 2017 at India Food Forum.
- He received the ‘Retail Icon of India Commendation’ for IMAGES Group Recognition from peers in the Retail Industry.
