Deepti Sharma

Player of the Tournament - 2025 Women's Cricket World Cup Winner

About

Deepti Sharma is one of India’s finest all-rounders and a key figure in the national women’s cricket setup since 2014. A left-handed batter and right-arm off-break bowler, she has built her career around balance, consistency, and game awareness.

Her defining moment came during the 2025 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup, where she delivered one of the most complete tournament performances in the history of the sport, scoring over 200 runs and taking 22 wickets to earn the Player of the Tournament award as India lifted their first-ever World Cup trophy.

In the final against South Africa, Deepti’s all-round brilliance was on full display. Her crucial 58 runs and five-wicket haul (5/39) secured India’s victory, making her the first player, male or female, to achieve such a feat in a World Cup knockout match.

Her composure under pressure and ability to influence matches with both bat and ball have made her one of India’s most dependable cricketers.

Deepti made her domestic debut at just 16 and quickly progressed to the international stage the same year, playing her first ODI against South Africa in 2014.

Her rise was swift, backed by standout performances such as her record-breaking 320-run opening stand with Punam Raut against Ireland in 2017, a world record in women’s ODIs.

Beyond international cricket, Deepti has represented teams in the Women’s Big Bash League, The Hundred, and the Kia Super League, gaining recognition for her adaptability in different playing conditions.

In the Women’s Premier League, she became the first Indian to claim a hat-trick while playing for the UP Warriorz in 2024.

Her consistent performances and leadership qualities earned her the post of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in Uttar Pradesh in 2025, a reflection of her contribution to Indian sport
