Krishnakumar Dinesh Karthik, popularly known as Dinesh Karthik is an Indian professional cricketer and commentator who nationally plays for the Indian Cricket Team and who served as the captain of IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders.
Dinesh started playing cricket at the age of 10, did his under-14 debut in early 1999, and was promoted to the under-19 side at the beginning of the 2000/2001 season.
He made his first-class debut in late 2002 against Baroda as a wicket-keeper and even batted in five matches of the round-robin but, due to repeated wicket-keeping errors, he was dropped from the season's final matches.
Dinesh was selected for the India squad in the 2004 Under-19 Cricket World Cup in Bangladesh, and scored two half-centuries on an India A tour to Zimbabwe. In the same year he made his Test cricket debut in the fourth Test between Australia and India in Mumbai.
In 2009–2010, he was the Tamil Nadu captain in six Ranji Trophy matches scoring 152 against Orissa and 117 against Punjab, adding a further two scores of at least 70.
In his 15-year-old career Dinesh has played for around 94 ODIs, and 32 T20s.
Dinesh made his debut as a commentator during India-England T20I and ODI series held in 2021 for the official broadcasters of England and Wales Cricket Board.
He has played for several IPL teams including Kings XI Punjab, Delhi Daredevils, Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Gujarat Lions. He served as the captain of Kolkata Knight Riders from 2018 to 2021.

Dinesh was made the captain of Tamil Nadu Ranji team in 2009-10.
Dinesh was named captain of the India A team for the Deodhar Trophy in October 2018.
He also captained the Tamil Nadu team in the 2020-2021 edition of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and won the tournament for a second time
Dinesh is the first-ever Indian cricketer to win a ‘Twenty20 International Man of the Match’ award.
He also holds the record of facing the most number of deliveries, 18, by an Indian batsman for scoring no runs in ODI.
He also has the 2nd longest T20 career which is 15 years 307 days.
