Govindraj Ethiraj, a Journalist, is the Co-Founder of Indiaspend.com, India's first data-driven journalism non-profit organization and is also the co-founder of two other media organizations, FactChecker and BOOM a fact checking website, that leverages technology to fight misinformation.
Govindraj is a television and print journalist who has reported and written on Indian business for over 25 years.
Prior to this, Govindraj worked as a Journalist at renowned news agencies namely The Economic Times, Business Standard, CNBC-TV 18, & Bloomberg UTV. He was also associated with the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI).
Govindraj oversaw India Fact Quiz, a Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation-supported initiative aimed at dispelling myths and biases in healthcare, education, and gender.
In 2014, he founded an extension of the website, Indiaspend.com, called Factchecker.com, India’s first dedicated fact check initiative.
In the same year, he co-founded two for-profit companies, Ping Digital Broadcast Private Limited, a broadcasting service company & Boomlive.in, an independent digital journalism initiative to fight misinformation.
He anchors seasonal shows on Indian news television--the current one being Aegons of Business on Bloomberg Quint, and the most recent being Policy Watch on public service broadcaster Rajya Sabha TV.

- Govindraj received the “BMW Foundation Responsible Leaders Award” in 2014 for his work with Indiaspend.com.
- He was named a 2018 “McNulty Prize Laureate” in recognition for his leadership with BOOM, IndiaSpend, and FactChecker.
- He is a Fellow of the Inaugural Class of Ananta Aspen’s India Leadership Initiative and the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
