Kanwal Jeet Singh Dhillon

Lieutenant General Kanwal Jeet Singh Dhillon, a distinguished retired General Officer of the Indian Army, epitomizes leadership, strategic acumen, and dedication to service. Lt. Gen. Kanwal Jeet's approach to Kashmir's security challenges has been characterized by a balanced strategy, combining robust counter-terrorism operations with efforts to engage with local communities and foster goodwill. His decisive actions, such as targeting the perpetrators of the Pulwama Blast within the first 100 hours, exemplify his proactive leadership and commitment to maintaining peace and stability in the region.

With a career spanning an impressive 39 years, Lt. Gen. Kanwal Jeet has held numerous pivotal appointments, both in operational and instructional roles, showcasing his exceptional leadership capabilities.

Commissioned in the 4th Battalion of the Rajputana Rifles in December 1983, Lt. Gen. Dhillon's journey in the military has been marked by a series of significant achievements and commendations. 

Notably, he served in Jammu and Kashmir for five tenures, demonstrating an incisive understanding of the region's dynamics. His tenure as the sector commander of Rashtriya Rifles and Brigadier General Staff of the Chinar Corps further established his reputation as a seasoned strategist and tactician.

Following his retirement from active service, Lt. Gen. Dhillon assumed the role of Chairperson of the Board of Governors (BoG) of the Indian Institute of Technology, Mandi, in August 2023. In this capacity, he continues to demonstrate his commitment to education and the development of Kashmiri youth, advocating for initiatives such as the Army Goodwill Schools (AGS) and the digitization of educational facilities through corporate social responsibility efforts.

Beyond his military and educational endeavors, Lt. Gen. Dhillon is a staunch advocate for youth empowerment and engagement with the armed forces.
