About
Krishna Nagar is an Indian para-badminton player from Rajasthan who became the second Indian to win Paralympic gold in badminton at the 2020 Summer Paralympics in Tokyo, where he won in the men’s singles SH6 category. Diagnosed with dwarfism at the age of two, he stands at 4’5” and has made remarkable strides in his sport.
His journey began in his hometown, where he initially played badminton casually with friends in the local garden. It wasn't until 2016, after joining the Sawai Mansingh Stadium for fitness, that he was introduced to para-badminton. This pivotal moment set the stage for his illustrious career.
Under the guidance of coach Yadvendra Singh, Krishna quickly excelled, winning two gold medals in both singles and doubles at the 2018 Nationals in Varanasi. His meteoric rise continued under the tutelage of Gaurav Khanna, the head coach of the Indian para-badminton team and a Dronacharya awardee.
By 2020, Krishna had become a force to be reckoned with on the international stage. He won a bronze medal in singles at the 2018 Asian Para Games in Indonesia and a silver in men's doubles at the 2019 BWF Para-Badminton World Championships in Basel, Switzerland, alongside compatriot Raja Magotra.
