Mohammed Vakil

This Sufi singer expresses his poetic verses with great precision in the form of ghazals

About

Mohammed Vakil, whose mastery over Ghazals has earned him many fans, first shot to fame after winning Zee TV’s ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa’, which was one of the very first singing reality shows in India in 1997.

He made his foray into Bollywood with ‘Aaya Tere Dar Par’ from the movie ‘Veer Zaara’ in 2004.

With a number of albums to his credit, such as ‘Guzarish’, ‘Sapne’ and ‘Kasak’, his music is an attempt to appeal to the present generation without compromising the true essence of classic poems.

Few of his popular Ghazals include ‘Tera Khayaal’, ‘Meri Jaanam’ and ‘Mere Naseeb’.

The innovativeness of Mohammed Vakil is depicted in intermingling the western and eastern instruments. He has emerged as one of the most sought after singers for live performances at corporate and social events.
