Penaz Masani
About
Padmashree Awardee, Penaz Masani is a ghazal and Bollywood playback singer with 20 albums to her credit. Her enchanting melody leaves all Ghazal enthusiasts in awe!
She has been a fellow awardee with the likes of IPS cadre Kiran Bedi, and MP Renuka Choudhary, in the Femina list of ‘Women of Mettle’.
She has won a number of awards, including the title of ‘Shehzadi Taruntam’, by the state government of Uttar Pradesh in 1996 and the ‘11th Kalakar Award’ for 'Outstanding Contribution to Music’ in 2002. She has had the honour of being invited by then President Zail Singh and performing at the ‘Rashtrapati Bhavan.'
She is one of the first Ghazal singers to have been awarded the ‘Platinum disc’ in addition to three ‘Gold discs’.
She has sung for over 50 films in ten different languages. She appeared in numerous concerts in India and around the world under the auspices of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations in countries as far-reaching as Germany, South Africa, Nigeria, Ghana, Senegal and Vietnam.
