Rainbow Dance Crew

About
Breaking stereotypes one performance at a time, the Rainbow Dance Troupe has emerged as one of India’s most talked-about dance collectives. Based in Kolkata and led by founder Ratri Das, the all-transgender troupe has become a powerful voice for visibility, inclusion, and cultural expression through dance.
The troupe rose to national prominence with their unforgettable journey on ‘India’s Got Talent Season 11’, where their emotionally charged performances and striking visual storytelling earned them the coveted Golden Buzzer. Their run to the Top 6 finalists brought widespread appreciation from judges Navjot Singh Sidhu, Shaan, and Malaika Arora, while also introducing mainstream audiences to a collective that blends art with identity and resilience.
Known for large-scale theatrical productions, the troupe is celebrated for performances rooted in mythology, spirituality, and the celebration of Shakti. Their portrayals of Goddess Kali, Goddess Durga, and Maa Chamunda are especially admired for their detailed costumes, expressive choreography, and commanding stage presence. One of their most widely shared acts, inspired by the ‘Dashavatar’, moved audiences across social media platforms for its emotional depth and visual impact.
While mythological storytelling remains central to their identity, the troupe also performs Bollywood, jazz, salsa, hip-hop, and contemporary dance formats, making them a versatile live act suited for both cultural and commercial stages.
Long before television recognition, the group had already built a strong live performance circuit with more than 1,500 performances across India and international platforms. Their work has been recognised with the “10th National Pride Achiever Award” for promoting transgender visibility through performing arts.
The troupe has also been featured by platforms like ‘The Better India’, ‘News18’, and ‘Gabruu’ for reshaping conversations around representation in Indian entertainment. In 2026, they were selected among the country’s leading dance groups to perform at ‘KalaYatra 2026’, the Festival of New Choreographies held in New Delhi under the guidance of legendary dancer Sonal Mansingh.
