About
Rajasthan Roots is a LIVE band based out of Jaipur, that promotes the performing arts of Rajasthan by bringing folk to a multicultural platform, by creating new folk blues, funk and electronica appealing to various musical tastes and age groups.
Formed in 2005, the band fulfills the need for a contemporary interpretation of the folk music of Rajasthan and brings it at par with international standards.
They have been featured on TV shows such as Dewarists on Star World & on MTV Coke Studio.
Their compositions reflect Rajasthani folk, using traditional instruments such as the Dautara, Morchang, Khurtal, Bhapang, Flute, Khamaicha, Khol, Ektara, Tambura, Harmonium and Algoza.
Rajasthan Roots emphasize on introducing warmth and depth through bass, vocal harmonies, and effects to the music, yet keeping its essence intact and also producing the electrifying percussion of Rajasthan into a pulsative groove.
By writing their own songs, Rajasthan Roots are leaving their own legacies behind for future generations to follow and create the new sounds of Rajasthan. Their performance is a mix of popular folk to upbeat originals, as a wide repertoire of timeless Sufi.
