About
Known as the ‘Guru of Contemporary Dance in India’, Shiamak Davar is largely responsible for modernizing the Indian cinema’s dance scene by introducing Jazz & Contemporary dance forms. An award-winning choreographer and entertainment icon, Shiamak has worked in Bollywood giving us iconic choreographies in movies like ‘Dil To Pagal Hai, ‘Taal’, ‘Dhoom 2’, ‘Bunty Aur Babli’, & ‘Jagga Jasoos’. In 2011 he choreographed the dance sequences for the movie ‘Mission Impossible 4’.
Adding to this repertoire of notable works was his being appointed as the director of choreography for the 'Commonwealth Games, Melbourne and Commonwealth Games, Delhi.
Personally trained by Shiamak, the Shiamak Davar Dance Company is one of the most versatile performing troupes in the world. Impeccable with their technique, knowledge & performance, the company is recognized for its discipline & commitment to the arts.
Shiamak Davar Dance Company is one of the biggest dance companies in India, performing at some of the most prestigious events worldwide like The World Economic Forum in Davos in 2006 & Commonwealth Games in Melbourne & New Delhi in 2006 & 2010 respectively.
Over the years they have performed for renowned personalities like former US President Bill Clinton, Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper, and international stars like Tom Cruise, Richard Gere, Will Smith, Bryan Adams, Stevie Wonder & Oprah Winfrey.
In July 2011, Shiamak received an honorary doctorate from Middlesex University in recognition of his contribution to entertainment in India and throughout the world.
