About
Sneha Shahi is a young conservationist who has emerged as a hope in the fight against environmental degradation. Pursuing a Master's degree in Environmental Studies at Maharaja Sayajirao University, she seized the opportunity to join the UNEP Plastic Tide Turner program. Collaborating with over 300 students, Sneha spearheaded initiatives to raise awareness about environmental conservation, setting the stage for her transformative journey as a changemaker. Mobilizing a team of dedicated volunteers, she orchestrated a monumental clean-up effort that resulted in the removal of approximately 700 kilograms of plastic waste from the stream, signaling a triumph for both the ecosystem and the local community.
Despite encountering formidable challenges, including resistance to change and hazardous cleanup conditions, Sneha remained undeterred in her pursuit of a cleaner, healthier environment.
Sneha also fosters a culture of environmental responsibility and reconnects individuals with nature, through workshops, educational programs, and advocacy efforts targeting schools and colleges to inspire a new generation of environmental stewards and empower communities to adopt sustainable practices.
