A respected policy maker, a renowned economist and the former vice chairman of NITI Aayog. These are just some of the many hats worn by Dr. Rajiv Kumar.
Dr Kumar has served in policy think-tanks even before NITI Aayog. After completing his D.Phil. in Economics from Oxford University, Dr Kumar started working as a senior research associate for the Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations. He also served as the Director for the same organisation from 2006-2010. He was also a senior fellow at the Centre for Policy Research.
He is the founder of the non profit ‘Pahle India Foundation’. Pahle India focuses on research and development that will ultimately help India to improve the quality of economic, political and social development.
Currently he is the chancellor of Gokhale School of Economics and Politics, Pune. He has authored quite a few books, the most famous one being Modi & His Challenges.

Dr Kumar is on the Board of many international organisations such as The Economics Research Institute for ASEAN and Asia, Indonesia and The King Abdullah Petroleum Studies and Research Centre, Saudi Arabia.
He is one of the most revered policy makers of our country. He was on the advisory committee for the economic liberalisation of 1991.
