About
A WSET Diploma Level 4 qualified wine taster, Gurjit Singh Barry has handled prestigious accounts of major 5 Star Hotels & is the COO at The Corralejo Margarita Challenge being organised at a national level by Corralejo Tequila.
Since 2008 he has assisted in organising & conducting the consecutive editions of India’s first & only platform for budding wine professionals – Indian Sommelier Championship, ISC.
He is also in charge of various wine centric animations at International Food & Drink Exhibitions such as IIWF, Vinitaly, IFE, IFDE, & Fine Foods India in New Delhi & Mumbai.
Working along with premium Indian wineries, he has also conducted events & training for Reveilo, York & is the wine ambassador of India’s premium wine house, Fratelli Wines.
Gurjit has handled accounts for major five star hotels, including The Lalit New Delhi as the resident sommelier; the Lalit group; India’s most and the world’s second most luxurious train, Maharajas’ Express; and award-winning restaurant Olive Bar & Kitchen Mehrauli.
Gurjit has overseen wine education at TAJ, The Oberoi New Delhi, Radisson, The Ashok New Delhi, and the Galaxy Hotel Gurgaon's wine club and has also helped to carry out a European project called UIV - Unione Italiana Vini, which aims to provide wine education in India.
He guides budding wine importers on business strategies & product launches and advises foreign winemakers on the scope of business possibilities in India.
In association with the Indian Grape Processing Board (IGPB) & the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MOFPI), he has conceived, planned, & successfully executed a three day certificate training & tasting programme on Indian wines for the trade, media, & consumers titled ‘Panorama of Indian Wine Tasting’.

- Gurjit has been a judge for the Decanter Asia Wine Awards since 2015.
- He served as a judge at the India chapter of Worldskill 2016.
- He has also represented India & the wines from 9 wineries to an international audience at the reputed 10 day international festival of Les Fêtes de Genève in Switzerland.
