Magandeep Singh is India’s first French-qualified Sommelier, TV-Show host, & an award-winning wine writer & lifestyle columnist who has been advocating the cause of wines in India for over a decade.
From assisting new wineries in their setup to organising master-classes & wine dinners for trade & consumers both, he has straddled it all.
Today, he heads India’s largest team of sommeliers & wine professionals, & together they are shaping the wine quotient for hotels, restaurants, & retail chains across the nation.
He has promoted the cause of wines and conducted training sessions for the Food & Beverage industry across the country, having worked with India's top wine importers.
Independently, he has advised some of the most prestigious hotel chains & restaurants across the nation about wine management & boosting sales while improving the consumer satisfaction quotient.
He has published India’s first book on wines, ‘Wine Wisdom’,followed by a TV Show ‘Around the World in 85 Plates’, where he showcased the cuisines & drinking customs of the world, which ran for 5 seasons.
He has written various columns about wine & food which is published in over a dozen publications with his columns commanding a total reach of over 50 million.
His company, ‘Wi-Not’ has conducted wine fairs, hosted foreign wine delegations, & organised events & meetings for traders & consumers alike.
Magandeep launched India’s first wine school Institute of Wine and Beverages Studies along with Wi-Not partners, and they’ve trained over 10,000 Indians in wine, certifying them through India’s only bricks-and-mortar beverage school, the Institute of Wine + Beverage Studies (IWBS).

- Magandeep was awarded the “Silver Medal” at the World Gourmand Awards for his book Wine Wisdom’s importance as an educational reference.
- Served as a judge at the Decanter Asia Wine Awards 2019.
- He was also awarded the “Best Lifestyle Journalist” by A Tout France at a ceremony in Delhi for their 10th anniversary.
- Magandeep is the founder of the Society of Sommeliers and the Indian Sommelier Championship.
Why Magandeep Singh ?
As India’s first French-qualified Sommelier and consistently working with the top hotels, restaurants and wineries in India for the last two decades, Magandeep’s presence in the wine industry has been game changing. He is a nominative member of the Indian Grape Processing Board, advising the team of winemakers & law regulators about wine and in addition has inaugurated India’s first wine school. Along with his team, he has represented Indian wines on various international platforms and is also the only Indian to regularly judge the most prestigious international wine competitions.
