Puranjit Dasgupta also known as RJ Mantra is a TV presenter, voice over artist and renowned host who is popular for his stand-up comedy acts on three consecutive seasons of ‘Comedy Circus’ on Sony TV. Mantra is an actor, director, and producer, known for playing the iconic character of Genie in the popular Disney India`s Broadway musical Aladdin and Piya Behrupiya.
He started his career as a radio jockey with India’s first private radio station Radio Mirchi in the year 2000. In 2003 he joined Radio City and simultaneously started taking acting lessons from noted theatre personality Barry John.
Apart from some TV series, he has acted in the musical drama,‘Piya Behrupiya’. His Bollywood debut was ‘Tum Mile’ in 2009 and was later seen in ‘Bheja Fry 2’, ‘Hum Tum Shabana’, and ‘London, Paris, New York’.
He has hosted many TV shows such as ‘India’s Got Talent’, Channel V’s ‘First Day First Show’ and ‘G-Spot’. He was a cricket commentator on Star Sports and NDTV 24x7's sports show 'Cricket Controversies'. He has also become the face of Pro Kabbadi League.
He has won the ‘Promax Award’ twice for his show ‘Mumbai Local’ on Red FM. He has also bagged the ‘RAPA Award’ twice for ‘Best Radio Jockey’.
He won the award for the ‘Best Actor’at the Bangalore Short Film Festival 2015 for his short film ‘Khatara’, a home production.
He is currently back on radio after 5 years, with a new show called ‘Lamhe With Mantra’ on air. He also has his own podcast channel MnM Talkies, which has produced a series of audio shows for various audio portals.
He directed ‘Kaali Awaazein’ in 2020, a horror audio web series which got released on Amazon, in which Amitabh Bachan gave his voice.
