Anurag Maloo, a mountaineer who made headlines in 2023 as he went missing on his descent from Mt Annapurna, the most difficult 8000-meter peak of them all. Miraculously rescued by a Polish climber and Sherpas, after 3 days of continuous search operations, Anurag’s survival is a story of resilience.
Anurag Maloo is a seasoned community builder, TEDx speaker, and regional manager for South & Central Asia with Techstars and Startup Weekend. With a decade of experience, he has cultivated vibrant startup ecosystems across the Indian subcontinent and South Asian nations, extending his reach to conflict-stricken regions and ancient Silk Route nations.
Anurag’s journey through life has been marked by remarkable achievements and a relentless commitment to social change. Educated at Maheshwari Public School and Modi Public School in Rajasthan, his academic pursuits led him to secure All India Ranking 6701 in the prestigious IIT entrance examination. Pursuing his passion for technology, he obtained a B.Tech in Information Technology from Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, New Delhi.
However, it was in the rugged terrain of mountain ranges where Anurag found his true calling. Equipped with a thirst for adventure and a desire to push boundaries, he embarked on a journey into the world of mountaineering. Under the guidance of renowned mountaineer Bachendri Pal, Anurag honed his skills, by completing a Basic Mountaineering Course from the Nehru Institute of Mountaineering.
Anurag's mountaineering expeditions took him to the most challenging peaks in India and abroad. From scaling the heights of Mount AmaDablam to traversing the treacherous terrain of Mount Annapurna, his courage knew no bounds. His passion for exploration extends beyond mountains, as he explored diverse cultures and landscapes in over 60 countries worldwide.
