Sanjay Dutt, or the Deadly Dutt, or the much talked about Munnabhai, has portrayed larger-than-life characters in a booming film career spanning more than 40 years & has become a force to reckon with!
Although he has enjoyed great success as a lead actor in genres ranging from romance to comedy, it has been the roles of gangsters, thugs & police officers in the drama & action genres that have won him maximum appreciation.
He is the son of veteran Hindi film actors Sunil Dutt & Nargis Dutt. He made his acting debut in 1981 & has since acted in more than 100 Hindi films. After doing a couple of films, Naam was his first major critical success in 1986.
He went on to star in some of the most era-defining Indian films of the early 1990s such as Sadak, Saajan and Khalnayak which were well received.
Munna Bhai M.B.B.S. which released in 2003, achieved a silver jubilee status (25-week run) being one of only eight films to have achieved this status since the year 2000.
His notable work includes Dhamaal, Shootout at Lokhandwala, Agneepath, Son of Sardar, Kalank, Sadak 2, KGF 2 and Shamshera among others.
He co-hosted the fifth session of the Indian reality show Bigg Boss along with Salman Khan on Colors (2011-12).
Sanjay Dutt & entrepreneur Raj Kundra together launched India's first professionally- organized mixed martial arts league — the Super Fight League — in January 2012.
A biopic has been filmed on his life with actor Ranbir Kapoor portraying his character in the film which was released in 2018.

- Sanjay won the ‘Best Actor’ at Filmfare, Star Screen Awards and IIFA for Vaastav in 2000.
- He won the ‘Best Supporting Actor’ at Star Screen Awards for Mission Kashmir in 2001.
- He won the ‘Best Comedian’ at Filmfare, ‘Best Actor’ at Star Screen Awards and ‘Star of the Year Award – Male’ at Stardust Awards for Munnabhai MBBS in 2004.
- He won the ‘Best Actor (Male) – Critics’ at Global Indian Films Awards, ‘Star of the Year Award – Male’ at Stardust Awards and ‘Best Actor (Male) – Critics’ at Zee Cine Awards for Lage Raho Munnabhai in 2007.
- He won the ‘Best Actor in a Negative Role’ at Stardust Awards for Agneepath.
