About

In the quiet intimacy of a baithak setting - where every lyric, pause, and note matters - Neeru Soni has built her reputation as a compelling ghazal and Sufi vocalist.

Often referred to as “The Boxing Nightingale,” she brings together classical training, emotional storytelling, and an unconventional life journey that has shaped her as both an artist and mentor. Her musical grounding lies in Hindustani classical training that began in 2012, forming the foundation for a repertoire that includes ghazals, Sufi compositions, and spiritually rooted music.

Neeru’s performances are particularly suited to the traditional baithak format, where close audience interaction allows the poetry and melodic phrasing of ghazals to unfold with depth and sensitivity. Listeners are drawn to the reflective mood of her concerts, where classical nuance meets contemporary expression.

Her recorded work includes original tracks and reinterpretations such as Chandni Raat and Baithi Hai, available across major streaming platforms including Spotify, JioSaavn, and Apple Music.

Alongside performing, she is also a music educator who runs the “Anybody Can Sing” online programme, sharing vocal techniques and musical insights with learners across the world.

In 2020, she founded her own studio, The Boxing Nightingale, an initiative that uniquely combines vocal training with boxing-based fitness. The studio reflects her belief that voice, breath control, and physical stamina are deeply interconnected for performing artists.

Her personal story has also resonated widely. As a single mother who spent several years focusing on raising her son before returning to rebuild her professional life, Neeru has spoken openly about resilience and self-belief.

Her journey has been featured by SheThePeople, where she shared how determination and patience helped her begin a new musical chapter at the age of forty.

Today, Neeru Soni continues to perform at cultural gatherings, literary events, and intimate music circles, where ghazals and Sufi poetry find a natural home.
