Shalmali Kholgade

Known for her edgy powerful vocals and smooth sensual voice, Shalmali Kholgade rose to national fame with her debut song ‘Pareshaan’ from the film ‘Ishaqzaade’ in 2012, which won her the ‘Filmfare Award’, for Best Female Playback Singer.

Shalmali started her musical journey by learning Hindustani classical music from her mother. To pursue her passion for singing she started singing at restaurants on weekends and later got accepted into the LA School of Music. Trained as a classical singer and moonlighting as a jazz vocalist, Shalmali Kholgade soon climbed her way to success in the Bollywood music industry with a powerful repertoire of work.

She received her second Filmfare for the song ‘Balam Pichkari’ from ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’ in 2013 followed by many more awards & accolades.  Some of her most popular songs include ‘Lat Lag Gayi’, ‘Shayarana’, ‘Daaru Desi’ and more.

She has established a name for herself in regional languages music industry too & made her acting debut in the 2009 Konkani-Marathi film ‘Tu Maza Jeev’.

Apart from being a highly noted live performer in the country, she has also performed as a soloist with a Latvian troupe in a Cabaret named Bombaloo, which toured internationally.

Her first regional song ‘Raja Raja’ was a great hit in 2013 and she was also the judge of Indian Idol Junior for auditions.

Her hit single ‘Kalle Kalle’ was released in 2020 on Valentine’s Day.

With a unique western style of singing with hints of jazz, her voice exudes an earthy sensuality. Combined with her spunky personality and powerful stage presence, she has emerged as one of the most sought after singers for live performances at corporate and social events.
