Son of the iconic singer & actor Kishore Kumar, Amit Kumar is the voice behind some of the biggest hits that Bollywood has seen including ‘Ek Do Teen’ from Tezaab, ‘Tirchi Topi Wale’ from ‘Tridev’, ‘Bade Achchhe Lagte Hain’ from Balika Badhu & ‘Dil Main Baji Guitar’ from ‘Apna Sapna Money Money’.
His biggest break came with the 1981 film ‘Love Story’. RD Burman gave him the opportunity to sing all the songs for the film & it won him a Filmfare Award for the song 'Yaad Aa Rahi Hai'.
There are several blockbuster songs that were sung by Amit in Bengali which his father sang in Hindi separately, such as ‘Pran To Maane Na’ in Bengali was ‘Bachna Ae Haseeno’ in Hindi & ‘Jeo na Jeo na’ was the Bengali version of ‘Kya Yahi Pyaar Hai’ from the movie ‘Rocky’.
Apart from singing for over 200 Hindi films, he has also released a number of music albums including ‘MAD’, ‘Pyaar Toh Bas Pyaar Hai’ & ‘Dam Dama Dam’.
He has worked with some of the biggest musicians like RD Burman, Bappi Lahiri, Laxmikant-Pyarelal & Kalyanji-Anandji to name a few.
In fact, he has recorded 170 Hindi songs under the legendary R.D.Burman. He also owns a music company called ‘Kumar Brothers Music’ with her brother.
The versatile singer has been doing live shows for over two decades now & continues to perform worldwide.
