About
Prasoon is an award-winning lyricist, screenwriter, poet and marketer, who is currently the CEO of McCann WorldGroup in India and the Chairman of the Asia Pacific McCann Erickson.
Prasoon made his debut as a film lyricist with Rajkumar Santoshi's Lajja, a critical and commercial success. He then worked with Yash Chopra on Hum Tum and led to a string of highly successful Bollywood films like Rang De Basanti, Break ke Baad, Delhi 6 and Neerja. With Rang De Basanti, he also became a dialogue writer.
In 2007, he was asked to be a judge of the nationally popular reality singing competition Dhoom Macha De on NDTV Imagine. Prasoon Joshi was also part of the select three-member Core Creative Advisory Committee for the Commonwealth Games 2010 opening and closing ceremonies, with Shyam Benegal and Javed Akhtar.
In 2008, Prasoon was invited as the Cannes Jury chairman and in 2009, he was named among the exclusive 10-member Cannes Titanium and Integrated Jury at the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival.

He has won more than 200 national and international awards. He also won the ABBY Award for ‘Best Copywriter‘ and the ‘Best Ad Campaign‘, the Cannes Lion Award for ‘Thanda Matlab Coca-Cola’ campaign, being voted as ‘No. 1 Creative Director in Asia Pacific 2007‘ by Media magazine, and many more.
He is the recipient for the prestigious ‘Padma Shri’ in 2015.
His work as a lyricist has been incredible, receiving a Filmfare Award for ‘Best Lyricist‘ thrice for his song ‘Fanaa’ for Chand Sifarish, ‘Maa’ for Taare Zameen Par, and ‘Zinda’ for Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. He has also received two ‘National Awards’.
He was awarded ‘Padma Shri’ by the Government of India in 2015.
Why Prasoon Joshi ?
Prasoon Joshi published his first book of prose and poetry at the age of 17.
In 2006, he was chosen a ‘Young Global Leader 2006’ by the Forum of Young Global Leaders, an affiliate of the World Economic Forum.
