Urooj Ashfaq set her mark in the comedic circuit as a contestant and finalist in TLC's show ‘Queens of Comedy’ (2017), which was lauded as India’s first-ever female stand-up comedy show. She went to work on comedy shows like ‘AIB: Honest Engineering Campus Placements’ in 2017, and several series like ‘Die Trying’(2018) and ‘Son of Abish’(2017). Her unique delivery style and evidential humor that touches the various aspects of everyday life strikes an instant connection with the audience which has helped her carve a niche for herself in this industry.
The Edinburgh Fringe’s Perrier Awardee, Urooj is the first India-based comedian to win the award at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in its 40-year history and the first comedian of South Asian origin to win it since 1997. She received this award for her show ‘Oh No!’ a 60-minute taboo-breaking act produced by Soho Theatre. Urooj has made a name for herself with her quick wit, and intelligent humor delivering impressive punchlines that leave her audiences in splits each time.
